Health Evaluation of Nurses by the Method of Todal Health Index (THI)



Abstract
In order to evaluate psychosomatic and health status of nurses, the authors analyzed health questionnaire by Todai Health Index (THI) for 929 nurses working at 9 public and private hospital in Seoul, Korea.
The results were as follows
1. The psychosomatic symptoms which nurses complained most frequently were nervousness, irregular life and lie scale in order.
2. The response of psychosomatic complaints was much higher in a nurses working at `yard Room than in those at Out-Patient-Clinic (OPD), in particular, there was statistically significant difference in the score of eye, skin, impulsiveness, depression and irregular life (p<0.05)
3. The response of psychosomatic complaints was higher in unmarried nurses than in married nurses in the score of eye, skin, depression and irregular life (p<0.05)
4. The response of psychosomatic complaints especially in the score of respiratory system and aggressiveness was significantly higher in nurse group working many years (p<0.05)
5. There was statistically significant in the response of psychosomatic complaints specially in the score of eye, skin, irritability, depression and irregular life in nurse group under 30 years of age than in those over 30 years (p<0.05)
6. There was more increasing tendency in the response of psychosomatic complaints in nurse group with a past history of illness than those without past history.
